Tucked away in Jalan Bukit Ho Swee, Sin Lee Foods is nested underneath a block of flats serving up a a range of western/chinese/japanese inspired dishes. They are also one of the latest cafes that have chosen to retain the name of the previous tenant, a famous lor mee and prawn mee stall.
You can spot the old signboard which is still proudly displayed on the store front!
Order a starter and main to share among 3 girls as we didn’t have much of an appetite, and it was a good choice as the portions offered here are pretty generous!
SALTED EGG SWEET POTATO FRIES
A mix of sweet and salty, this is quite a crowd pleaser. Fried till golden brown and drenched with the salted egg sauce, whats not to like? Definitely an alternative which you can go for instead of the typical truffles fries.
Seared marbled striploin and a sunny side up atop wet orzo “rice”, this dish tasted nothing like I ever had before.
Firstly, the wet orzo “rice” has a very interesting starchy texture as if you are eating mini pastas.
Secondly, the sauce based for the rice is a sweet and salty which you will either love or hate.
I didn’t particularly fancy it cause I found it a little too salty, but the other 2 ladies I was with love it to bits.
Definitely getting a 2nd visit from me, as I would like to try out their Fried Chicken and Waffles which seems to be a pretty popular choice among the diners there. Prices-wise they aren’t the cheapest in town, but I do appreciate the fact that they are pretty innovative and not just serving up typical cafe food in an pretty cafe.
